About The Alsager Community Choir
The Alsager Community Choir was formed in May 2012 and was created to allow people of all singing abilities to get together, make new friends and sing their favourite songs. Choir leader Matthew initially came up with the idea whilst he was teaching in China, where he had to use the choir singing as a way to relax students who were under enormous pressure at school. The benefits of singing for your body and mind are great but also being part of a choir is a fantastic way of winding down, meeting new people and sharing new experiences.
The choir now boasts around 60 members and performed it's first concert on December 2012 and has since gone on to perform concerts for the Alzheimer's Society, Alsager Rotary Club, Shine Learning Disability Programme and the Alsager Music & Arts Society.
In 2015 The Alsager Community Choir was asked to perform with the Brit award-winning harmony trio Blake at the Crewe Lyceum and the Buxton Arts Centre, with both shows being a huge success.
We are delighted to welcome Kate Cubley as our interim Choral Leader. Kate has a wealth of experience in vocal coaching and vocal leading and will be working closely with Music Director Matthew on the choirs future repertoire.
